Using the Monitor Window

The Monitor window works like two windows in one. Buttons at the top of the window indicate which mode, or view, the window is in:

Clip view shows and controls the playback of individual clips (Figure 5.1). Double-clicking a clip in the Media window opens the clip in the Monitor window, switching it to Clip view automatically. This way, you can set the clip’s starting and ending frames before adding it to the sequence in the Timeline window. Similarly, double-clicking a clip already in the Timeline window opens it in Clip view so you can change the clip’s starting and ending points. Clip view also includes a button to tag important frames with a reference marker and a button that exports the current frame as a still-image file.
