As you saw in the previous section, you often design a title with a background image in mind. When you add the title to the timeline, the empty background areas of the title are interpreted as transparent, revealing the video image of clips in lower tracks.
Premiere Elements makes the background transparent automatically; you can make the visible parts of the title fade up and down with transitions. Although you learned all about transitions in Chapter 7, “Adding Transitions,” the following task describes both how to superimpose a title and how to fade it up and down.
