Viewing the Video in the Background

Because many titles are superimposed over video, the empty background areas of a title are transparent (see “Superimposing a Title Over Video,” later in this chapter). In the drawing area, a checkerboard pattern represents the transparent areas. However, you can fill the background with a representative frame of video from the sequence in the timeline so you can adjust the colors and elements of the title to match.

The background frame isn’t saved as part of the title; it’s merely a helpful reference.
