Chapter 1. Basic Elements > Using Context Menus

Using Context Menus

In addition to accessing commands from the menu bar at the top of the screen, you can use context menus. As a Windows user, you’re already aware that right-clicking, or context-clicking, reveals a context menu near the mouse pointer.

As the name suggests, context menus contain commands relevant in a particular context or area of the screen. In other words, context-clicking a clip in the Timeline window reveals a menu similar to the one you’d see if you selected the clip and chose the Clip menu in the menu bar. The context menu for the Media window contains commands that relate to it, such as the Import command.
