Chapter 7. Adding Transitions > Using the Effect Controls Palette with Transiti...

Using the Effect Controls Palette with Transitions

Although you can adjust a transition directly in the Timeline window, you’ll need to use the Effect Controls palette to adjust the transition in an A/B layout or to customize the transition’s settings. However, you must select the transition in the Timeline window to make its controls appear in the palette. (By selecting a clip, you can use the Effect Controls palette to adjust its audio and video effects, or filters.)

The Effect Controls palette’s main panel contains information about the transition, a thumbnail preview, and controls for adjusting its duration, alignment, and various custom settings. You can also reveal a timeline panel, which lets you view and adjust the selected transition in its own timeline using an A/B roll layout. The timeline panel’s CTI and viewing area bar work just like those in the Monitor window (covered in Chapter 5).
