Chapter 7. Adding Transitions > Applying a Transition

Applying a Transition

You can apply a video transition to any cut in a video track, and you can apply any audio transition to any cut in an audio track. Furthermore, video transitions aren’t limited to video track 1. This way, it’s possible to layer video tracks, complete with transitions. (See Chapter 10, “Adding Effects,” for more about transparency.)

In addition to adding transitions between clips, you can add a transition to the end of a clip adjacent to an empty area in the track. Doing so automatically aligns the clip using End at Cut and is useful when you want to create an audio fade out or a video fade to black (the empty track acts as silence or black video).
