Viewing Motion Effects

Motion effects include the inherent spatial properties of a video clip: position, scale, rotation, and anchor point. You can adjust these properties as you would any other property, using controls in the Effect Controls window.

But because these properties are spatial in nature, it’s more convenient to change them by dragging the clip in the program view, using what are called direct manipulation controls (Figure 10.45). When these controls are enabled, the selected clip appears with a bounding box and control handles. A circle with an X indicates the clip’s anchor point. Dragging the clip changes its position, whereas dragging the control handles can alter the clip’s scale or rotation.
