Lesson 14. Creating a Sound Track > Working with Soundtrack

Working with Soundtrack

Soundtrack is an arranging program that works in conjunction with a music library of prerecorded musical audio files. The audio files can be one of two types: loops or one-shots. A loop is a musical pattern played by certain musical instruments that can be repeated over any length of time. A loop might be 8 beats, 16 beats, or 32 beats in length. By repeating those 8 or 16 beats in the Timeline, you begin to create a composition track. Aone-shot is a sound effect or some other audio sound that is not based on beats as much as on a single effect, such as applause, or a cymbal crash.

  • To launch Soundtrack, single-click the Soundtrack program icon in the Dock, or navigate to the Applications folder and double-click the Soundtrack application.
