Releasing on Corporate Networks

If you're making video pieces for a large company, the corporate network will be your primary distribution medium. Big companies have total control over their internal communications, which generally aren't subject to the government regulations or the commercial realities that constrain movies and television.

For years, many major corporations have had their own private, closed-circuit television systems. Early applications involved training presentations and live broadcasts of meetings. Eventually, corporate customers extended their networks—some of them worldwide—linking their offices via leased phone lines, including microwave and satellite channels. The result was to pioneer live, two-way videoconferencing, which linked boardrooms with field offices and stockholder meetings.
