Using Adaptive Resolution

If your system is slow to update the Comp window's image, After Effects can reduce the image's resolution automatically—a feature called adaptive resolution (Figures 8.18 and 8.19). This way, you can get visual feedback even when your system can't keep up at the resolution you previously specified for the window. You set the maximum amount by which adaptive resolution degrades images in the Previews panel of the Preferences dialog box.
