Chapter 13. Painting on a Layer

Chapter 13. Painting on a Layer

Although it appears as a single effect in the layer's property outline, the paint effect feels like an entirely separate set of features meriting a chapter of its own. In fact, the Tools palette includes several tools devoted to painting: the Brush tool, Eraser tool, and Clone Stamp tool. And the paint feature's numerous options require two specialized palettes: the Paint palette and Brush Tips palette. With the Brush and Eraser tools, you can simulate handwriting, create hand-drawn graphics, or alter a layer's alpha channel to create (or fix) a track matte. Or you can make more subtle adjustments to an image with each stroke by using blending modes. You can also use a Clone Stamp tool to retouch an image or to aid in tasks like wire removal.
