Preserving Underlying Transparency

To the right of the Mode menu is a layer switch in a column marked simply T. This innocuous-looking little T switch performs an important function: It preserves the underlying transparency. When you select this option, the opaque areas of a layer display only where they overlap with opaque areas in the underlying image (Figures 14.70 and 14.71).
