Using Masks from Photoshop and Illustrator

You can copy paths from Adobe Photoshop or Illustrator and paste them as a layer mask in After Effects. Why not just import the file as a still image? By pasting a path as a layer mask, you can take advantage of After Effects' ability to animate its Shape, Feather, Opacity, and Expansion properties.
