Chapter 6. Layer Editing > The Time Graph

The Time Graph

Each layer in the composition occupies a separate horizontal track, or cell, in the time graph. The vertical arrangement of layers indicates their position in the stacking order (covered in the previous chapter). Time is displayed horizontally, from left to right, and measured by a time ruler in the increments you selected in the project preferences. Layers appear as color-coded duration bars; their length and position in the time graph indicate when the layers start and end as the composition plays back.
