Chapter 11. Effects in Action

Chapter 11. Effects in Action

This book can't hope to describe in detail each effect and how to apply it—much less the infinite iterations and combinations of these effects. Nor would it be useful to do so. Instead, this chapter briefly describes each effect category and then provides step-by-step instructions for using some prime examples of each. Focusing on standard effects—which, as you know, are available in both the Standard and the Professional versions—will also make the best use of limited space. Consequently, the chapter excludes examples from the 3D Channel and Matte Tools categories, which contain only Professional effects. And although the chapter lists Pro-only effects, it omits the effects users can download separately from the Adobe Web site as an incentive to register the software. When you download these plug-ins, they're installed in a separate folder within the After Effects Plug-Ins folder, but they appear in existing effects categories (albeit with the software developer's initials preceding the effect's name; for example, CC Radial Blur).
