Formatting Characters

You can set formatting options before you type, or you can apply formatting options to a range of selected characters. The Character palette includes a number of options found in other Adobe programs: font, style, fill and stroke, size, leading, tracking, kerning, scale, and baseline shift (and its exotic cousin, Tsume). You can also apply faux bold, faux italics, small caps, superscript, and subscript to fonts that don't include these forms. You can even use smart quotes in place of standard quotation marks.
