Parenting Layers

Often, you need layers to act as a group or an integrated system. For example, you might want to connect the parts of a machine or simulate the orbits of a planetary system. You can do either of these things by establishing a relationship between one layer's transformation properties and the transformation properties of one or more other layers—a technique fittingly known as parenting (Figures 17.50 and 17.51).
