Part: 2 A Little Bit Beyond the Basics > Shooting and Editing Tips for Great Vi...

Chapter 4. Shooting and Editing Tips for Great Video

Now that you've seen just how easy it is to create a DVD with iDVD, let's look at how to create content and assemble it into a coherent movie.

Remember the five-step program I outlined in Chapter 1? Well, most of this chapter is about Step 2, creating. We'll look at things you can do while shooting and editing to get the best possible results. And we'll throw in a dash of Step 1, planning, to see what you can do before you shoot or edit to get the best possible results.

Even iDVD and iMovie can't work miracles. They can't overcome the GIGO (Garbage In, Garbage Out) effect—if you feed them lousy video and audio, you end up with lousy video and audio. In Hollywood, they often say, “It's OK; we'll fix it in post-production” (editing), but for mere mortals, it's better if you start with good raw material.
