Lesson 1. The Shake Workflow > Interface Workflow

Interface Workflow

  • Images are read in from various folders.

  • These images, as represented by the thumbnails, are arranged in a compositing tree, with color corrections, layering commands, and keying nodes, among others, connected to them to achieve the desired effect.

  • The parameters of the nodes are tuned with interactive feedback in the viewing windows.

  • Once finished, a FileOut node is attached to the bottom of the compositing tree to tell Shake where to write the output image.

You can use as many FileOuts as you want, placed anywhere along the tree. You can render from the interface by choosing FileOut, and then selecting Render FileOut Nodes in the Render menu.

  • Or you can save the tree out as a text file called a Shake script.

  • From the Terminal window or your own batch rendering system, the effect is then rendered, and the output image is written to disk.
