Lesson 7. RotoShape > What You've Learned

What You've Learned

  • Rotoshaping is a frame-by-frame shape-drawing technique used to create animated shapes over time.

  • The Toggle Fill/No Fill mode button toggles off the rendering of shapes.

  • The softness of a shape can be controlled on a knot-by-knot basis using four different knot modes: Group, Main, Edge, and Any.

  • Create as few keyframes as possible to animate the shape, but as many as needed so that the shape properly follows the object.

Keyboard Shortcuts
Knot Modes
F1group mode: moves both the main shape knot and edge knot associated with it
F2main mode: moves main shape knots only
F3edge mode: moves edge knots only
F4any mode: allows you to move either the main shape knots or edge knots
