Lesson 8. Film Compositing > Film Resolution Files

Film Resolution Files

Film resolution files are generally scanned at a size of 2048 × 1556 pixels. The large size of film images means longer processing and slower interaction. You'll see what I mean in a minute.

1.
Start Shake.

2.
FileIn the vine_bgd_bush sequence from the Lesson08 folder (Lesson 08/vine_bgd_bush/full_res).

vine_bgd_bush is a 1828 × 1556–pixel, anamorphic film file. The anamorphic film format is horizontally squeezed at the time of photography with a special lens. Later, the film is unsqueezed when it is projected, producing a 2.40:1 aspect ratio.

3.
Click the Fit Image to Viewer icon in the Viewer.

4.
Switch the Viewer to Scrolling Update mode.

This displays each line, starting from the bottom, as the image renders. This mode is good for slower renders.

5.
Advance the Time Bar 1 frame.
