Lesson 11. Advanced Compositing > FileIn the Source Material

FileIn the Source Material

1.
FileIn all the files from the Lesson11 folder using Cmd-A and select OK.

You should have the following eight clips: background, background_matte, boat_comp, chop1_beam, chop1_lens, chop2_beam, chop2_lens, and choppers.

Take a moment to view the final composite before starting.

2.
Pan the Node workspace and find the boat_comp clip.

3.
Load the boat_comp clip into the Viewer.

4.
In the Globals tab, set the timeRange to 1-70.

5.
Click the Flipbook icon and play the clip once it is loaded.

What you have here are your standard computer-generated helicopters with light sources added to a live action background plate of a boat.

6.
Repeat the previous steps to play the choppers and background clips.

Note that the choppers clip has an alpha channel and the background clip has camera weave as a result of being shot on 16mm film. This camera weave must be removed before compositing begins. The best way to do this is with Shake's Stabilize function.

7.
Close all open flipbooks.
