Lesson 1. The Workspace > Working with the Timeline window

Working with the Timeline window

The Timeline is a time-based representation of your program. You assemble and edit your video in the Timeline window. When you start a new project, the Timeline is empty.

With Premiere Pro, you can create and nest multiple timelines in a single project. This feature allows you to assemble scenes on different timelines and then nest them on the master timeline. You could also create different versions of your video project by copying the original timeline several times and then applying different visual effects and cuts without affecting the original version. You'll learn about nesting timelines in later lessons. In this lesson, you'll learn how to locate controls for navigating time and for editing.
