Lesson 2. Sequencing and Basic Real-Time... > Using the Automate to Sequence comma...

Using the Automate to Sequence command

Another way to add clips to the Timeline window is to select them in the Bin area of the Project window in a specified sequence and then use the Automate to Sequence command to move them all at once to the Timeline.

1.
Double-click on the Bin 01 icon in the Project window to view the contents of Bin 01.

2.
Press and hold down the Control key as you click the icon for the following clips in this order: Opening.avi, Okay.avi, and Notmuch.avi. All three clips are now highlighted (selected) in the bin.

Now, you'll use the Automate to Sequence command to add the clips to the Timeline.

3.
Choose Project > Automate to Sequence.

4.
Make the following changes in the Automate to Sequence dialog box: In the Ordering field, choose Selection Order; in the Placement field, choose Sequentially. In the Method field, choose Insert Edit; for Clip Overlap, type15 Frames if it is not already set to that number. Deselect both Apply Default Audio Transition and Apply Default Video Transition. Make sure that there are no Ignore Options selected and then click OK.

Now, look at Sequence Ex in the Timeline window. You will see that the three clips you just added are at the beginning of the Sequence.

5.
Choose File > Save to save the project file.
