Lesson 13. Output > VCD/SVCD

VCD/SVCD

The Adobe Media Encoder can also be used to create files suitable for creating Video CD (VCD) or SVCD disks. VCD and SVCD are similar to DVD, except that they are written on CD-R media rather than DVD-R or DVD+R media. Thus, a CD writer can be used. Since a CD holds about one sixth of the data of a DVD, longer programs may not fit. In addition, the quality is lower than DVD and closer to VHS or S-VHS. Finally, not all DVD players can play back VCD and SVCD disks.

1.
Click on the Timeline to activate it.

2.
Choose File > Export > Adobe Media Encoder.

3.
For Format, choose MPEG1-VCD or MPEG2-SVCD.

4.
The default preset should be fine. Click OK.

5.
Give your file a name and location.

6.
Click Save.

7.
Premiere Pro writes out an mpeg file, which can then be burned onto a CD-ROM.
