Lesson 10. Advanced Editing Two: Nested ... > Understanding duplicate clips

Understanding duplicate clips

Each component of a video program has a name that describes its function in the program and its location in the Premiere Pro Workspace.

Source clip A source clip is ax file containing video that has been digitized. All of the files currently in the Project window of this project are source clips.

Instance You can drag copies of a source clip from the Project window into the Timeline as many times as you want. Each copy you use in this manner is called an instance.

Duplicate clip You can also create a duplicate clip from a source clip in the Project window. Like a source clip, a duplicate clip appears in the Project window, and is identified by the same name with the word copy next to its name. You can use any number of instances of a duplicate clip in a project.
