Lesson 9. Advanced Editing One: Single-F... > Understanding the Trim window

Understanding the Trim window

The Trim window is a separate window with specific controls for fine-tuning the cut points between clips. It is similar to the dual view in the Monitor window, except both views represent clips in the program. The left monitor view is the clip to the left of the edit point, and the right monitor is the clip to the right of the edit point. You can perform ripple edits or rolling edits at any point in a sequence, and the sequence updates as the edits are made.

Being able to see frames on either side of the edit line enables you to precisely trim each clip. This view is useful for fine-tuning the edit between two clips in which the action must match or for which the timing is critical. The Timeline updates as you perform the edit.
