Lesson 12. Duplicate Clips and Virtual Clips > Understanding virtual clips

Understanding virtual clips

In creating duplicate clips, you make a number of clips from a single master clip. In creating Virtual clips, you do just the opposite: You create a single clip from a specified area of the Timeline, which can include any number of clips. A virtual clip is much like a program exported as a movie that includes multiple clips, tracks, effects, and transitions. A virtual clip can be reused in a program any number of times. Premiere treats a virtual clip as a single clip. So, you can edit and apply settings to it just as you would to a simple source clip. By using virtual clips to organized and group sequences, you can save time editing complex video programs.
