Exploring on your own

Feel free to experiment with the project you have just created and to explore various ways of working with the Audio Effects and Video Effects palettes. Here are some suggestions:

  • Create and name a new folder in the Video Effects palette, using the palette menu or the New Folder button in the palette. Drag some of your favorite effects into the folder.

  • Select a folder in the Audio Effects palette that you don't expect to use frequently, and use Hide Selected in the palette menu to dim the folder. Now, use the Hide Hidden command in the palette menu to hide the folder.

  • Find effects to reverse an image (left-to-right), invert an image (top-to-bottom), and reverse a clip (front-to-back).

  • Try this method of making an effect start changing at an exact point in a clip. Select a keyframe either by clicking it, using the keyframe navigator to move the edit line to it, or manually positioning the edit line on it. Specify where you want the change to start by making your changes using the available settings controls.

  • Split a clip into a number of equal-sized segments using the razor tool, and then apply an effect to every other segment using Paste Attributes and Paste Attributes Again.
