Chapter 9. Working with Video Effects > Creating Quick Fades with Fade Effect

Creating Quick Fades with Fade Effect

Clicking the Fade Effect button (located by default on the Composer Fast menu) is the fast way to fade the opacity level of most segment effects up or down by a custom number of frames. This approach is ideal for quickly fading titles and any of the Key effects.

The Fade Effect function works by automatically creating Level keyframes for the existing effect. These quick fades save you from having to apply an additional transition effect, such as a Dissolve or Fade-to-Color. So if you want to fade an image in or out, don't reach for the Dissolve transition effect!
