Chapter 12. Working with Audio > Turning Audio Tracks On and Off

Turning Audio Tracks On and Off

For the most part, turning audio tracks on and off in the Timeline is a straightforward enterprise using the Timeline's audio monitor buttons:

  • To hear an audio track: Click its monitor button so that a monitor icon appears.

  • To solo an audio track (hearing that track and only that track): Ctrl-click (Windows) or Command-click (Mac) a monitor button so that it turns green (Figure 12.15).

Figure 12.15. Here, to listen to track A1 alone (soloing it), you would Ctrl-click (Windows) or Command-click (Mac) its monitor button. The soloed button will turn green. Another click will unsolo the track.

  • To give two audio tracks digital scrubbing priority: Make sure those track have gold speaker icons. (See “Scrubbing Audio” later in this chapter.)
