Chapter 15. Special Features and Bundled... > Cutting Film Projects in Xpress Pro

Cutting Film Projects in Xpress Pro

The common procedure for cutting an actual film project (16mm or 35mm) in a nonlinear editing system is to transfer the 24 fps film to 29.97 fps (NTSC) or 25 fps (PAL) video, which is then captured and edited in the application.

After editing is complete, the editing decisions of the 29.97 fps or 25 fps edit must be translated back into 24 fps terms. Then a cut list can be generated that will be handed to a negative cutter, who will use the list as a guide for cutting the actual film negative for printing.
