Media Drives

You should have at least two drives connected to your computer, internally or externally.

One drive holds your operating system and editing application, and the other serves as your media drive—the drive to which you capture your source media files. The advantage of this setup is that the same drive will not be unduly taxed by the triple tasks of running your OS, running the Avid application, and playing back media files.
