Video and Audio Hardware Requirements

Your editing suite needs a way to get your media in and out of your computer (a deck, camera, or digital-analog converter) as well as a way to store and play back media once it's on your computer (internal or external hard drives).

FireWire (1394) Connections

Xpress Pro depends upon the FireWire port (also known as the 1394 or iLink port) on the host computer to get video and audio into and out of your system. The Macintosh systems listed here all come with qualified FireWire connections. If your Windows-based system does not come with integrated 1394 ports, or if you want to add a second 1394 bus, the following PCI cards have been qualified by Avid for use with Xpress Pro:
