Chapter 11. Rendering and Real-Time > About Rendering and Real-Time

About Rendering and Real-Time

When you apply an effect to a video or audio clip, Xpress Pro requires processing (rendering) time to play back that effect at full quality. Ultimately, before you output your project to tape, you will need to render all effects in your sequence to ensure the highest performance. Whenever you render an audio and video effect in Xpress Pro, the application creates additional source media files on your hard drive, which are represented by precompute clips in your bins (you can choose to display precomputes by configuring your Bin Display settings).

During editing, however, Xpress Pro's real-time capabilities can help you save the time it usually takes to render effects. Software-only versions of Xpress Pro let you preview more than a hundred effects on the Composer monitor in real time, without waiting for rendering to complete; Xpress Pro systems that have the Mojo box let you preview effects on an external monitor as well.
