Chapter 14. Outputting and Exporting > Exporting Shot Logs and EDLs

Exporting Shot Logs and EDLs

When you want to re-create your Xpress Pro project in another application (for example, Final Cut Pro), you traditionally need to do the following:

  • Export a shot log. A shot log is a set of instructions on how to log and capture your source media. Remember when you first logged your source clips for capture? Those logged clips comprise a shot log.

  • Export an EDL. An EDL, or edit decision list, contains the instructions that tell a third-party application how you cut together your clips into a sequence in Xpress Pro. Using an EDL, you can re-create your edit in, say, Final Cut Pro, after using the exported shot log to recapture your source media.
