Reference Movies and the Send To Feature

To work on a piece of your Xpress Pro Timeline in another application (such as After Effects), often the first step is to export a reference movie from Xpress Pro and import that reference movie into the third-party application.

A reference QuickTime movie is better than a normal QuickTime movie because it is not a recompression of your DV media; it is not a new media file. Rather, a reference movie is a file that merely refers to the Avid source media already on your computer. Hence, exporting a reference movie is a great way of exporting a sequence or clip without any duplicate recompression having to take place.
