Chapter 6. Making Edits > Marking In and Out Points

Marking In and Out Points

Marking In and Out points is part of the core craft of video and film editing and involves two critical creative choices: What part of your source clip do you want to edit into the Timeline? Where do you want to edit it to?

Typically, you will prepare an edit by marking two points in one monitor—the source monitor or the Timeline/Composer—and one point in the other monitor. (See the sidebar “Three-Point Editing” later in this chapter.)
