Chapter 6. Making Edits > Extending Edits

Extending Edits

If you're coming to Xpress Pro from another application such as Premiere or Final Cut Pro, you may be used to dragging the heads or tails of segments in the Timeline to extend or shorten them. To drag in this way in Xpress Pro requires you to enter Trim mode. In fact, to shorten the head or tail of a segment in Xpress Pro, you must enter Trim mode. (For more information, see the sidebar “Using Trim Mode to Extend or Shorten Segments.”)

However, in normal editing mode, you can extend the head or tail of a segment by using the Extend Edit button on the Trim tab of the Command palette.
