Performing Overlap Edits

A simple edit with an audio-video clip where the audio and video tracks both begin and end at the same edit point is called a butt edit.

On the other hand, an edit where the audio and video tracks of your incoming source clip do not begin or end at the same time is called an overlap edit. Overlap edits are most commonly used when you want to hear a character speak before you actually see the person.
