About Trim Mode

Trim mode allows you to fine-tune the timing of each edit by adding or subtracting frames to the head and tail of individual clips in the Timeline wherever the clips meet at an edit point. When you enter Trim mode, pink rollers appear on one or both sides of any selected edit points, and you add or subtract a few frames from either side of the edit by moving the rollers one way or another.

The type of trim you perform depends on the number of rollers you have added to edit points, the number of edit points on a single track with rollers added, and the overall number of tracks to which you have added rollers. The simplest trim is a single roller at a single edit point on a single track. The most complex trims involve either single rollers or double rollers on multiple edit points on multiple tracks.
