Adding Drop and Depth Shadows

A drop shadow is like a double of your object's image, positioned behind the object to mimic the effect of a shadow cast by light. A slight drop shadow often adds a little dimension to text (Figure 8.29).

Figure 8.29. This square has a drop shadow, creating the illusion that there is a light source above the square, shining on it at an angle. It also suggests that the square is floating above the ground.
