Chapter 4. Capturing and Importing Media > Configuring Your Video Input Resolut...

Configuring Your Video Input Resolution

Xpress Pro needs to know what video resolution you want to capture. For DV, a digital format, you usually do not want to deviate from full-resolution DV 25 411 unless you need to save drive space by capturing at single-field resolution (for NTSC or PAL video) of 15:1s.

If you do capture at lower than full-resolution quality (an offline quality), remember that at the end of your project, you'll have to recapture your footage at full resolution.

To select a video resolution for capture:

  • Do one of the following:

    • Choose Tools > Capture to open the Capture tool and choose a resolution from the Capture tool's Res (resolution) pop-up menu.

    • Double-click your active (check-marked) Media Creation settings (on the Settings tab of the Project window), click the Capture tab, and choose a resolution from the Video Resolution pop-up menu (Figure 4.13).

Figure 4.13. You can select your video resolution for capture in one of two places: on the Capture tab of the Media Creation settings dialog box or the Capture tool's Res pop-up menu.

Xpress Pro will now capture source video at your chosen resolution.
