Design Directions

Previous chapters focused on the practical characteristics of DVDs and described how they're put together and function. Important stuff to be sure, but structure is only part of the DVD story. Understanding how to make a menu system look great and communicate well is the other half of the equation.

As a visual medium, the ultimate success of any DVD rides on how well those visuals are presented. If we assume that the video on a DVD is worth watching, then the supporting menu system should be equally engaging to look at. That's where you come in.
