DVD-ROM Data Files

Computer data storage is not part of the DVD-Video specification, but you can include data files on your disc in a DVD-ROM directory. When you do this, you are technically creating a Hybrid DVD, but it's really no big deal. Hybrid DVDs work on any regular set-top DVD player or on a DVD-compatible computer.

Any file that can live on your computer's hard drive can be written to a DVD. Remember that the data files will only be of use when the disc is inserted into a computer's DVD drive—your TV set-top player won't know or care that they're there.
