Chapter 12. DVD Showcase: Menu design in... > Design: Stanford Creative - Pg. 231

DVD Showcase: Menu design inspiration 231 My criteria for creating an effective DVD Menu design is derived from creating CD-ROMs. With each project, we had to invent a new layout and interactivity suited to the universe of the content. With the DVD we can do even much more, thanks to the technology of MPEG-2, which plays video at its best. I try to author in such a way so that there is always a seamless transition after a menu button selection. Good planning and tricky programming with DVD Studio Pro can challenge "Hollywood authoring" on much more expensive systems. I always render my After Effects composites in a lossless animation codec before encoding to MPEG-2, thus I get a sharp look on DVD.
