Chapter 17. Duplication & Replication: Reproducing your project on DVD media

Authoring media & General media

Because “Authoring” media and “General” media use different laser wavelengths, each one must be recorded in a corresponding type of drive. You cannot record (burn) General media in a DVD drive that's compatible with the Authoring media format, and you cannot record Authoring media in a DVD drive that's compatible with the General media format.

After you've finished authoring your DVD project and you've tested it to make sure all the menus are working as you intend, you transfer the final files onto a DVD disc. For personal projects you may need only one or two discs; other projects may need hundreds or thousands of copies.
