Elements of a Menu System

We consider the following visual elements to be the building blocks of a DVD menu system. Not all discs will necessarily contain the full range shown here, but you'll probably recognize at least a few of these from watching commercial DVDs.

Navigation

The first and most obvious piece of the system is the navigational menu, or just plain menu itself. This is the cornerstone, the screen that contains buttons and text that link to video content or other menus.
