Video Compositing

Video compositing techniques are used to create video special effects for both movies and motion menus. A motion menu usually is a short movie (30 to 60 seconds) that loops (repeats endlessly). The movie that is used as a menu can also contain other movies that have been resized to fit within the menu's viewable area.

Whether you use a specialized video compositing application, such as Adobe After Effects or Discreet Combustion, or use the compositing capabilities built into your NLE software, the basic techniques of compositing several video clips into one are similar.
