DVD Authoring Software

Authoring software is the essential hub of DVD production. It takes individual video, audio, and image assets and mixes them together into a DVD-ready file structure. The software not only assembles assets, it also controls how they display, interact, and function on the finished DVD.

Asset assembly and more

The main role of DVD authoring software has traditionally been as an assembly environment, with individual assets created by outside applications. But recently, some applications have blurred the boundaries by incorporating built-in features such as menu creation, video compositing, encoding, and subtitling. We'll show examples of these and other individual software applications later in this chapter.
